Theme: THE NEED OF SPIRITUAL POWER

MESSAGE

Pentecostal day is the day when the holy spirit came upon the church and the earth. The fiftieth day after the day Jesus ascended to heaven. This fulfils the words of John the Baptist in Mathews 3:11 and Luke 3:16. It also fulfils the word of God from the scriptures of Acts 1:4-5 and Luke 24:49.

Jesus is coming soon for his empowered, holy, powerful and glorious church and a church without spot wrinkles (Ephesians 5:26-27). Jesus is not coming for a dysfunctional, weakling or a dirty church. In Titus 2:11-14 tells us to be rapturable, godly and righteous church. Therefore, everyone needs spiritual power and fire.

What we need in order to be a functional and powerful church

1. We need to be prayerful. Spiritual power comes from a prayerful life. Jesus saw a powerless and prayerless church.

What does a prayerless church do?

i. Sleeps: When Jesus needed his disciples the most, the disciples were sleeping instead of praying with him.

ii. Desert God.

iii. Follows Jesus afar: Are we near Jesus? Or are we near to worldly things. Let us draw close to Jesus than being afar.

iv. Denies Jesus (Luke 22:57): Peter denied Jesus three times. It is dangerous to deny Jesus.

v. Hides from God: We should not hide, but people should identify as that we are prayerful Christians and believers.

vi. Forgets everything that God has done for us: This comes when there is no faith in God (John 20:25).

3. We need to desire to have the holy spirit. The holy spirit is a life and power of the church. As a Pentecost believer you need to be revived with the holy spirit.

- Be holy. Holiness is impossible without the Holy Ghost.

- Do not be deceptive on having the holy spirit.

- Fear the Lord.

- Be strong in the Lord (Ephesians 6:12).

- Take care of your spirituality.

- Be careful of your association. Friends should not compromise your spiritual life.
